I know there are some others on here like me that suffer from an addiction to wool flannels,  I get the evil eye from my better half everytime I go into the thrift store and start eyeing one up.  Love the pendletons, and the woolrich, and some of the others out there. Shirts, shirt-jackets, you name it I scarf it up. Just don't make stuff like that anymore without paying high dollar. Feel free to post pics of some of your favorite garments.  I'm still working on the posting pics.

I like the Woolrich Buffalo plaids best, they are more like shirt-jacs than say, Pendleton. I recently got a cool deal here on the classifieds on one for less than half of what I had recently paid for a new one.    I'll post a pic of my favorite (the only one I have in CO with me) this evening after work...

I like Filson but when it comes to wool I can afford I like Asbell.

I have to get some of that asbell wool to try but so far my favorite is an original US made Buffalo by woolrich.  

my favorite set-up I like to wear is a Johnson light field Jacket in alaskan plaid and a LL bean Fleece Vest over it,, johnson sleeves are not as baggy as others and work great for me where I don't wear arm guards

I have a Filson crusier, but that is strictly for non-huinting- too heavy. Filson is the very best wool jacket there is IMO.

But I do use Pendletons that I found in thrift stores for hunting, especially early when its warm.

My mid-weight jac-shirt is one from a high end clothing store. Its a good wool, soft and very sturdy.
I agree with the buy used ethic. You could go broke buying some of these shirts new.

A Columbia wool camo jacket I picked up dirt cheap on the trade blanket at Denton Hill. The seller laughed in my face after I gave him the money and he said "You want to know what's wrong with it? It doesn't have slash pocket for your hands". I laughed to myself "Yes but I have a nice strap on hand muff which will solve that." I hope he is reading this.

I grew up with the unlined Woolrich stag shirt jacket. Got my first one for Christmas when I was 12 also had a Shakespeare solid glass bow and a Shakespeare leather back quiver which I still have.
OK, back on topic, since then I've gone through 2 other stag jackets and just got a new one in 2010. I layer the LL Bean wool buffalo plaid under the Stag jacket if it gets really cold.

Asbell wool pullovers

I have a lot of favorite shirts. I try hard to buy American, but sometimes falter in that regard. Woolrich makes a great wool shirt, and some of thier patterns appeal to me. But anymore, if it isn't made in the US, I can't "get behind it".

But if the question is "what is your favorite bowhunting shirt?".....Asbell Wool hands down. Have you ever noticed that there is not another shirt on the market quite like them? Thats because they aren't some re-hashed design first offered to loggers and prospectors a hundred years ago. They are a simple, yet well thought out BOWHUNTERS shirt/jacket. To my eye, they look to be a updated version of a Native American war shirt. No drawstrings, no bulky pockets or buttons to get in the way of a bowstring. And lets not forget...Teresa's in-house "test subject"...Fred...is one of the great bowhunters of our time. Every detail of the pullover shirt (vest too) was discussed and field trialed by Fred. Teresa told me recently that she had to re-do the hood 4 times before it met his approval. A hood...4 times....I'd say thats well thought out.

I know I am preaching to the choir....Teresa mentions often how thrilled she is with the loyalty shown to her design by the Tradgang. But I feel strongly that an Asbell pullover is the best hunting shirt you can buy.

Different subject....check out the Stormy Kromer shirts....not wool, but made in the US, and super quality.

Hey Roger - About the Stormy Kromer shirts you mentioned - Are they the flannel shirts on their website?  They do look nice.
