My lovely wife ordered me some new arrows as a Christmas gift, my first set of traditional arrows. She had apparently seen how I was looking at the Easton Legacy arrows and ordered me a dozen!!! When they arrived at my house, I immediately put an insert and nock on, and went to go shoot bare shaft to see how they shot. Turns out, she had accidentally ordered 2117's rather than 2016's. I shoot a 50# Hawkeye recurve by Indian archery. The arrow kicked really bad out to the right. It is spined way too heavily. I emailed the company, hoping to be able to return the arrows and get the correct spine. I am not sure what I am going to do if ********* Archery doesn't accept the return, please pray that they will kindly take the return so that I can start to work on my accuracy with correctly spined arrows

Put them up for sale or trade in the classifides. 2117's are pretty popular if they aren't cut too short.

Relax- post your draw length. Did you cut them? What length? Tip weight? You have not been Married very long because wives do not make mistakes, you should know that! No reason to sell or return anything, as odd as it sounds now, you will use them sometime    :biglaugh:  ?

Iowabowhunter

They are 32". haha and no I haven't, we just got married this past October 1st, little over 3 months and going strong! Both of our grandparents have been married over 50 years so we have some good role models to look up to

Use heavy tips.

And yes, they'll sell in the classifieds.

I shot 2117s with a 125 gr head from a Wes Wallace Partner TD recurve with 46# limbs and also from my 56# limbs from that bow and they shot fine.   Although by comparative modern standards they look a little fat, the 2117 is still a great spine.   Just load them up on the front end and watch your brace height.

Iowabowhunter

Is there anything I can do besides increasing point weight up front? The arrow was in fletched and I know that makes a difference as well

Bro, I got 6 full length ggii 500's (2016) un fletched never shot with inserts and nocks I will trade you for 6 of those 2117's.  If they are legacies they are more expensive than mine, but I currently do not need the 2117.  Just trying to do you a favor.

And there isn't anything you are going to be able to do other than leave them real long and load up the tip.  They are a great shaft, ecspecially for trad bows, you just got to  be shooting a good deal of weight and drawing them aways before you can use them.  God Bless

Arwin

Leaving them long is about the only other way. What is your draw length?

2117 is pretty close for a 50# recurve if you shot them cut at 30 inches long.   ;)

I learned that sometimes an arrow will act as if it were overspined when in fact it was underspined. Maybe the full length shaft is too weak and acted like it was too stiff? Try cutting 2 inches off one of those and see what happens?

Thank your wife for the lovely gift and just tuck them away in your closet. The thought behind the gift is more memorable than the gift itself. You are luck to have a wife who respects your interest and buys you archery things.

One bow. One arrow. My ideal.

October the 1st? That day must have been her idea..lol

I got married on April the 3rd so it wouldn't interfere with my hunting, worked great for a few years till we decided to move to NZ. Now our anniversary falls bang on with the Red deer roar.

Congratulations and i wish you many happy years together!

Sounds like a reason to get another bow that you can use those arrows with.

It would be no problem to add some point weight and get those dialed in for your bow.3Rivers sell a 100 gr brass insert for that size shaft and it would probably get you close.

Iowabowhunter

Does the brass insert screw into the insert I already have in there?

I've found if the point is RIGHT and the Nock is LEFT it's underspined. Cutting some off will stiffen the spine. IMO.  ;)
