What is the best way to write the specs on an osage self bow? I'm thinkin' sharpie but this is an area I don't want to make a mistake. Thanks

I think one of those paint markers would probably work better.

Sharpie Industrial. Very small and managable point on it. Don't take long to dry either.

At one time I used a Sharpie, but now I only use the "Micron" pen in size .005.     They are excellent with their waterproof ink and fade proof fine lines.

Absolutely. Make sure you use the Industrial Sharpie. I'll put one or two coats of finish on before I write on a bow. That way, if I make a mistake, a little steel wool will take it right off.

Jason.....do you then put a finish over the writing?

It's a good Idea!  I use sharpie's on my arrows and on each bow with the brace height and matched arrows with grain.

I use the industrial sharpie also. (Much better than basic permanent sharpie.) Then I put an epoxy finish on. I use the industrial because it doesn't smear like the reagular on when you wipe on a finish.

Yes. Usually another one or two coats.

Terry... by doing it Jason's way you can easilly add poundage for an upcoming moose hunt or decrease poundage for rabbits... a little steel wool and a Sharpie.  ;)

After using paint pens for years I went to the local Hobby Lobby and bought an extra fine point calligraphy pen and water proof archival white ink. This allows me very fine lettering on osage bows and the white stands out more the darker the osage gets. Black sharpie lettering disappears on darkened osage.

I letter after the first coat of finish on a bow and put two more coats of finish over the lettering, this way the lettering never rubs off.
