I am thinking about buying the Zwickey Eskilite broadheads for elk hunting> I am a little concerned they are to narrow and will not leave a good blood trail. They are 2 1/4 by 11/16. Is this to small for elk? I am not worried about penetration i am drawing about 63 lbs. Any one have any experience.

A shape head in the right spot , those heads have kill tons of elk !

Colorado rule book says 7/8" min  that equals 14/16"  Those are too narrow by that standard.

Good point I will check in on that. The zwickey eskilite is 130 grains and my field points are 145. I was going to put on 3 5 grain washers to get up to weight. I am also looking at the woodsman pro 3 blade heads.

Yeah 11/16 would be a "narrow" head    

With a 63# draw if it was me i would try to set up an arrow that weighed around 600-650gr total.A zwickey eskilite is a fine broadhead but if i was useing a two blade with a bow that strong i would use a zwickey delta in two blade or 4 blade version and ad weight adapters to bring it up around 200 grs.A woodsman or snuffer 3 blade would be great too. Most important though would be any broadhead that you can get razor sharp real easy and get that total arrow weight up over 600 grs.

I'm with Kituwa, if I was shooting 63 pounds I would be using the Deltas.

I'd be shooting an STOS but that's just me, they all kill if you do your part.

We've had good success with Abowyer brown bears.   They are definately heavier than Zwickey's. But as stated above, heavier is usually better with tough, big animals like a bull elk.  

I shoot a 58# R/D with a 640 grain arrow (300 total up front) and passed through my bull last year.  The two previous bulls it lodged in off side bone.  All three died within 100 yards.  

Regardless of your choice, at 10 grains per pound thats 630 grains.  I'd start around there and adjust to tune.  My two cents.

i use the eskimos and have for years they work great on all i've hit with them.

I would go with the WW Elites. They are the best heads out there in my opinion.
