Just bought one and was wondering who, where and reputation of bowyer. Nice bow shoots great. Thanks for any info.

Is it the Hamilton Scorpion longbow?  Those were built by a guy named Randy (I think) Hamilton.  He quit bow building to go to seminary and enter the ministry.  Maybe somebody else can provide more info.

M.R. Hamilton made Scorpian Longbows in the late 80's early 90's and was at that time located in Crestone Colorado. I heard rumors he stopped making bows and a family relation picked the business up. I believe what you have is a newer model. They were nice bows!

This bow looks new no scratches, looks like osage and walnut. Bow has a nice finish, a little to pretty for me. I am sure by next year it will have a little wear. Thanks for the information gentlemen.

Is this the one from E-B--? I was not sure if it was a Scorpion or not when I saw it but It did have a leather lace grip like an original.  With out the "scorpion" on the bow I would question if it was made by M.R,.  Still looked like a good shooter

This is that bow. It has built for Lauren Ostling at the top of the riser. As far looks that is the only blemish. I have been shooting it seems to shoot like it should. Appears to be original shelf leather with no wear. Strange that it is in such good shape.

M.R. Hamilton quit making bows and got religion while owing some folks down payments, etc.  One of them was me.  I talked with M.R. on a number of occasions before and after.  He is in Dan Bertalan's "Traditional Bowyers of America."

I believe bows made by M.R. had his name on them.  His brother-in-law took over and made all or most of those who were owed a bow, a bow.  I received on of those bows.  It was a good bow and I sold it to a fellow locally because it was too heavy.

That is what my research turned up,  but nothing on the BIL or the new business.

M.R. made one model, the Scorpion in 66", 68" and 69".  The one I had made by his brother-in-law [pretty sure it was his brother-in-law] was a Scorpion.  His bows were Hill style with a slight dish in the handle.  All the bow specifications were written on the arrow pass side of the bow, just below the handle wrap.  I believe his name was included.

I don't believe the one you have was made by anyone associated with M.R.
