tonkin cane..

Benjy, I didn't realize Tonkin grew wild near Columbia. That is cool.  Another boo type that makes great arrows that you could grow there is Bambusa multiplex. It is a clumping type(doesn't spread)with 12" or longer internodes(2 nodes per arrow), very thick walls and a small center hole. They have almost no sulcus(indentation above the node), are almost perfectly round and not much taper.
 When I lived in Bluffton there were clumps of bambusa around town that were 60 or more years ols and still only about 5' or 6' in dimeter. My friend on Myrtle Island, in Bluffton, has a 150' hedge of bambuse that I cut on when I'm there.

Pat, The slide show is from the cane that grows around here, I believe it is river or switch cane.

The stuff I gave you is Tonkin cane, I bought it from a supplier. I'll have to check out the Bambusa, sounds like the things I like about the Tonkin stuff.
