ok, the recommended brace height for my new recurve is 7 1/4 to 8".  i have it to about 6" now, but when i de string it, the loop in the string is not wide enough to let it slide down the limbs enough to be loose.  if i twist the string anymore to shorten it, i'm not going to be able to get it off i don't think.

anyone else ever run into this????

Ground Hunter

Do you have the string on upside down.  The small loop goes on the lower limb.

Hoofhearted

yeah, i just figured that out.  i went down to the basement and cut some silencers out of a beaver hide, and saw that when i was putting them on.

thanks!!!

Orion

Going from 6 inches to 7 1/4 or more will involve a lot of twisting.  IMO, your string is too long.  If it's a flemish string, take apart one of the loops and shorten it by an inch.  Or send it back to the bowyer, string maker for a shorter one.
