I have on hand some Tamiya Acrylic water soluble hobby paint.  Great colors!  How would these work out as arrow finishes for crowns, etc?

And equally important, can they go over or under some of the typical alcohol and "finish" type stains such as MINWAX?

How about fletching cements?  Would the typical fletch cement work here?

Inquiring minds need to know in order to finish (sorry, no pun intended) a Christmas project.

As far as cement goes I would use Duco. It's worked well for me.

I have been using Minwax oil or water based stains and cresting with acrylic hobby paint. Finishing with spray on Minwax polycrylic. Fletching with Fletchtite Platinum. Has worked well for me.

When in doubt test it on scrap wood first.

FYI, water-based and water soluble are two different things.
Water-base means water is the carrier for the pigments and resins. Once the paint is applied and cured water will not affect it adversly.
Water soluble means the product may be dissolved by water even after it is applied and cured.

I use water-base acrylics on arrows all the time and have great results. There may be some coverage or bleed issues putting paints over the stains so do some testing before doing the arrows.

Those are exactly the combos I have on hand and was thinking of putting together.  Will also heed Stumpy's advice on testing!
