I was browsing on TxAg squirrel hunting thread and noticed some different homemade heads. Some are ideas I have seen or heard of before and some I haven't. Alot of the tradgangers on here are pretty innovating so lets see what you have made.

MikeW

Not homemade but I use either a Hexhead or the Small Game Thumper/Hammer with a claw behind it.
You can do the same thing with a wingnut.
Time is a great teacher, but unfortunately it kills all its pupils.

I'll see what I can do about posting a pic, but I drill a 5/32" hole near the end of a standard glue on field tip, then insert and tack weld about a 2-1/2" piece of 1/8" stiff wire.  This is what I use for "shooting at" ducks on the wing.

Daniel Yononindo has a cool youtube video on how he makes his!!

Mine is on page 3 of the squirrel thread with the shot through the eye. Home made I call the mace.

I used to use a 125 grain glue-on hexhead with a 25 grain glue-in adapter with a "claw" or "turkey stopper" behind it. (as seen in the photo). Now I use the same set-up with a 145 grain Hammer point from Three Rivers. Both come out to about 150 grains. Same weight as my hunting points. I have hunted with alum. footed wood arrows for years. The build process is similar to the video.

In a moment of decision the best thing you can do is the right thing. The worst thing you can do is nothing.

on wood shafts use 38 or 357 empty brass. Add lead shot to get correct weight, Crimp on with nail on 3 sides

Apex Predator

I flattened the end of a field point, filed in a crossed pattern, and then screwed a washer on under the point.  They are awesome on rabbits!
