OK so I got my new fiftyniner and now I'm stuck.  I love the tradition of wood and that's all I've been shoting from my K-Mag, but this new bow and D-97 string beg to shoot carbon.  How many of you guys shoot wood out of fast bows, and what have you seen on the chrony?
Thanks,
Ken

Widow's Son

I would love to shoot woodies out of my Black Widow but I would need something in a 70-75# spine. Kinda tough to find in POC. I plan on going with carbons when my XX75s give it up. The Beaman MFX wood grain is a good looking arrow.

If I had a Corvette it would need mud tires on it. LOL

Wood all the way! Surewood shafts in spine weights all the way up to 90/95's in 11/32"...10" tail tapers to 5/16"....now that's my kind of ride!
Isaiah 49:2...he made me a polished arrow and concealed me in his quiver.

Orion

I shoot wood out of my ACSs.  They just go faster than they did with any other bow.  Have no idea of how much faster. I don't use a chronograph.

Bjorn

Like Orion, Adam and I shoot wood only outta' our ACS bows. All shaft materials fly the same speed if they weigh the same.

Ragnarok Forge

I love wood and shoot carbons.  A lot tougher, always straight, etc... Then again you can have both set up for the bow.  Have Snag make up some of his awesome woods for you.  He is a great guy and awesome at making arrows.

I shoot many different bows and use wood or carbon arrows depending on my set up at the time. A well made set of cedars with proper spine and matching weight, I find shoots easily as nice as any carbons I have used.

Flying Dutchman

I shoot wood only with my Cari-Bow Peregrine. With 9,5 gpp and a skinny SBD string it's above the 190 fps.
It don't mean a thing if it ain't got that string! [/i]

Wood for me and I shoot nothing but high performance bows....some of the bows are 95lbs plus and I shoot a 28 inch arrow nock valley to bop and have never had trouble finding good cedar/doug fir/sitka spruce shafts....just gotta look.

Endless loop strings, heavy bows, and wood and only wood arrows...my kind of archery!

Shot wood at first. It is pretty and traditional.
I had straightness issues,and breakage issues. I
myself PERSONALLY,like carbon for what I found
lacking in wood. Traditional Only shafts are tough, straight, and have a darker wood color pattern than say Gold Tips. My .400 spined arrows
out of my 52# Centaurs weigh 9.1 GPI. I add 3GPI
tubes and .175 point weight. Out to 20 yrds they are flat shooting, hard hitting arrows. I have not
shot them through a chrono. yet.
Make certain your exhausted when you reach them Pearly Gates.
