Man, that's cool!  Grats to the man!

Absolutely awesome story! It's really great when a hunter can zero in on one buck and be patient enough year after year to see it through.

Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for all the nice comments. I really appreciate that. My quest for Hurley will always remain one of my best memories. And to answer a common question, yes we only found one of his sheds in all those years. But we also found human boot prints where there weren't supposed to be any. BW

An arrow can only be shot by pulling it backward. So when life is dragging you back with difficulties, it means that it's going to launch you into something great.

This is one of my favorite deer hunting stories.  Barry deserved this buck..not just because he worked hard to get him, but because he truly appreciates the animal.  I have never had the chance to hunt the same buck for three years, but I gotta be honest, if I did...it would have been very easy to give up.  Trying to take a specific deer is as difficult as it gets. I sure hope I am still at it when I get to be Gene and Barrys age.  By the way Barry, how the hell did you drag that big boy out of the woods?  I assume you made Gene do it since he's younger!
