Just curious...
I was looking at the various 3d Deer targets available and noticed the difference in the sizes..
What do you consider the closest to a real "full size" Whitetail in size, keeping in mind I am in Maryland...

Now that we've exhausted all possibilities, lets get started.

when i practice i consider using a bit smaller targets.if you can hit a small target in the vitals you should be able to kill a full size deer in the woods.  :readit:

I got the cheap one from Wally's...I figured smaller target, smaller misses. Havent shot at a real deer with Trad yet, but Im hoping...

Personally, I feel one should practice shooting at deer of approximate size.  Most of us are not very good at judging distance and practicing at small targets could cause you to misjudge the distance.  The archer may believe the animal closer than it really is since it is bigger than your small practice animal.

Never really thought about it that way blackhawk, but that makes a lot of sense.  :clapper:

Especially if you're shooting instinctive. You program the internal computer for that size target and get used to judging distance based on that size and well.....

I've let a lot of P/Y deer walk by me at 30yrds because i thought they were to far away...I have takin 4 deer at 30, since the last 130+ walked by and starried in my direction. I know i'll get fussed at know, but thats in my comfort zone. If the circumstances are just right.Maybe thats why i shoot at that small delta target? I don't know but this has got me thinking...

Deer come in different sizes ,  seems to me.

I've shot them from around 100 lbs. to over 200 lbs.

Get a big one and a little one.   :bigsmyl:      :bigsmyl:

That's what I have in my yard.  :archer:
