In 3 weeks I will be travelling up around the panhandle of Florida to do deer hunting with a outfitter. The last week of December suppose to be a pre rut. What type of grunt calls should I bring? Should I also bring something to simulate the antlers sound?

KentuckyTJ

Forget the calls and ask your outfitter to sit you downwind on the edge of the thickets he thinks all the does are in. The bucks will cruise that edge testing the wind for hot doe smells. I would buy some James Valley doe in heat scent and put it out up wind of your setup every sit.

Be patient, might try sitting all day. Be sure to check the wind periodically while on stand!

I to would say leave the grunt calls alone and focus on hunting withing a close downwind proximity of a large number of does. I would also use the code blue standing estrous scent as it does wonders during the rut in the part of lower Arkansas I hunt in.
