So I got set up with Grizzlies and then they went out of production (temporarily I hope - good price on them).  Then I got set up with STOS and now there are production issues with them.  I have been waiting for either to come back into stock but I may get a chance at a mountain lion this winter so I need to get something I can reliably buy and can get now.    :banghead:   I am looking at the Zwickey no mercy.  What I am wondering is how close to a STOS is the no mercy performance wise?  The dimensions look about the same and I like the straight, low angle of the STOS edge.  I had great results with STOS.  They sharpen good, fly good, and are of consistent quality.  How does the no mercy compare?

ChrisM

I have both.  My STOS are160gn so are thicker but dimension wise they are the same around about. The factor grind was better on th STOS.

great heads, easy to sharpen, my only issue was the grind wasn't straight.  The tripple layer tip portion wasn't ground at the same angle as the single thickness portion.  It looks like a delta with the sides thinned to get a 3:1 ration.

I've been using the no mercy for three years now and would surprised to hear of another head as tough as these. I put one in a concrete block not cinder and have used it to kill the first deer every year since.  It needed only a light touch.with a file. This year I put one through the off side shoulder of a deer. I've compared several others  to the Zwickey but they fall short for.one reason or.another; price, strength, available or what ever. An old gent told me once that Zwickey was the Colt 1911 of the broadheads.

The No Mercy is a great head. Thay are durable and you can get them very sharp.

Well I might have to go the no mercy route then.  I don't have a problem re-profiling the edge after working with Grizzlies    :knothead: . I forgot to ask - are you guys using the single or double bevels?  This design looks like it would do best as a double but I have not seen them in person.

JamesKerr

Get the double bevel as the single bevel is hard to sharpen with all that paint on the other side of the bevel.

Double bevel it is then - I noticed that all of the bad reviews appear to be of the single bevel (sharpening mainly).  Good to hear someone has been using the double bevel with good results.

i use both, you will not be disapointed !

I have used Grizzlys, STOS, and No Mercy as glue-ons.  All three are excellent heads and performed well, but I have kindled a preference to right bevel BHs so my STOS are getting use in others' hands now.

To get the No Mercy BHs  the way I preferred them, took some elbow grease with a large bastard file, but once I was "there" I was highly satisfied.

For 2012 I am planning to change my game to right bevel Centaur Big Game heads to increase "ventilation" by expanding the entry and exit holes.
