The shadow plaid or buffalo plaid will make you DISAPEAR! I like the suggestions you have made. double cape, etc.

I e-mailed them about getting a shirt with a zipper in the front instead of the pullover. Was e-mailed back they wouldn't do it. Must be a lot harder to do or something.

I'll take one in Predator! Make mine with a hood and single front pocket.

Thanks,

How do the 28 oz wool fabrics compare between the Asbell pullovers and the Gray Wolf for really cold weather?  I have been thinking about replacing my old wool Columbia parka at some point soon.  I have a lighter weight Asbell vest and it is perfect for cool weather and layering with my other jackets but need something a little thicker when it gets frosty. The camo pattern does not matter to me and I would rather have a zipper, but you can't beat the Asbell deal.  I also do not have a problem spending more for the GW (sponsor and seems like great quality, too)if it is more suited for the real cold weather. They seem to be pretty close from the couple of times I have seen them compared. Thanks, Brian

I think Santa is going to bring me one for Xmas (I just decided, lol) but going a bit extra big.

My thoughts are to find a good seamstress and putting buttons in the front.

I thought some kind of reinforcement material around the buttons and button hole edges would be required.

Quite happy with the selection of trad plaids myself but other options would be neat too.

If I dont ruin it, Ill post photos LOL

Now there's a capital idea.  I like my Winona knit jacket very much (and it is GREAT under an Asbell hooded pull-over when it's under 20°F).  Still my favorite camo pattern.

(and it compliments shadow plaid very well).

And somebody needs to duplicate the old Bob Fratzke/Winona shearling lined belt pocket so you don't need a glove on your tab hand.  Fred?  Teresa?  Hint, hint.

Update...... heard back from Theresa and the Predator patterns are a maybe at this point. She obviously is swamped at this point in time but will look into it further during the winter after season and the Holiday rush is over. She also told me we have lots of new products to look forward too as well. The Asbells are awesome !!!

Thanks for the update.

I prefer the traditional plaid patterns in her pullovers, but more options is never a bad thing.

What I'd love to see Theresa make are wool pants, there are too few non-military surplus options out there and very few aimed at hunters at an affordable price ($200 for a pair of pants you wear a few weeks out of the year is just too much to me).  To keep costs down she obviously can't cater to every waist and inseam size imagineable, but using the basic BDU sizes for S, M, L, XL, etc, would probably be doable, same as the pullovers.  The olive drab and gray colors she has for pullovers would be great when used for pants.

I wear a mix of camo and plaids... the evening stand green pullover I got recently is great camo for where I hunt.

The pattern is even better than I was expecting... and "coincidently" (LOL)  the sleeves seem to be fashioned for bowhunters.
May your next adventure lighten your heart, test your spirit, and nourish your soul.

Turkeys are definitely a different deal, and when I'm hunting them, I'll put more thought into what I'm wearing if I'm trying to stalk them. But a lot of that has to do with the fact that turkeys can see the color green, and in general see color much more like we do, unlike ungulates.

Same idea of large, blocky, contrast shape still applies though. Don't get me wrong - I think Predator makes sweet patterns, and I own several pieces of it and really like it. But I'll wear some Predator pants with a plaid pullover and not think twice about it.

The driving force for us are the clearcuts and select cuts we hunt. Hard to find a big tree that helps hide you and lots of times you are in a lone tree. A open pattern with plenty of white or light colors are a MUST IMHO. Otherwise you become the black blob against the sky. We have not been visually busted by deer or turkeys since we switched to Fall Gray. Used to get busted at least a couple times a year when we wore darker camo.

If Theresa cannot get us the Predator patterns then I will go with the Shadow plaid since it is a good mix of light / dark contrast. Will pick this thread back up after the Holiday rush and hunting seasons are closed so Theresa can get caught up. I know she is swamped right now and glad she is ! Made in the USA and the Asbells are great folks. Had the pleasure of meeting them at Compton the last two years.   :coffee:

Wow! This is the nastiest thread I have ever read on tradgang. Someone simply requested a wool garment made in a Camo pattern by the best tailor, and it's got everyone breathing fire and throwing knives!  I really hope it was just the stress from the holidays and not a new trend starting here.
Back to the topic of this thread.... I would also like to see offerings in predator patterns. I would definately buy more than one garment.
Plant a fruit or nut tree today, and have good hunting tomorrow.

Yep...you are correct. I missed this one earlier....and no, its not becoming the norm...And I'm going to clean this up soon as I get this post finished.

I have no idea why men posted like they did....I am very disappointed in some longtime members actions here, and very confused at others posts that didn't even make sense or was relevant to the author's topic.

All the man asked for was something that wasn't available. If you want to beat someone up over that, go to another site, we don't' allow that here!!!
