Mad Dog Archery has some great youth longbows and recurves. Check my Howard Hill post from today. My youngest is six, and he loves it. Only about $95.00.
Step lightly, and shoot a trad bow.

St. Joe River Bows has some cool looking little youth bows in the sponsor classifieds.

Scott Mitchell, that builds Timber Hawk bows makes some awesome little kids bows. Might check his website out. Bought one for my son when he was 6 got alot of good use out it.

Don't push him too hard. keep it fun and when he's had enough let him do something else. hopefully, you will have a shooting buddy yet.

Good Luck.
Relax,

Once you get him set up with a bow and arrows, make sure he has fun doing it. One thing I have learned coaching kids is that they love shooting stuffed animals, plastic bottles, cans, or whatever versus shooting ata plain target. That loud WHOP when an arrow hits something and watching it get knocked around really is exciting for a kid, even a kid like me and I'm 63.   :bigsmyl:

Black Rhino bows, they are a sponsor here. Sells complete sets, everything you would need for a child.

German Dog

Kohannah makes a really nice one but think his build time is longer.

Blackrhinos are good too and think he should have them ready to ship same day and in time for Christmas : )

I've bought both of those bows I mentioned for my two boys.

I gave my two kids Black Rhino, great product!
An arrow can only be shot by pulling it backward. So when life is dragging you back with difficulties, it means that it's going to launch you into something great.

JParanee

Just got both my little girls Samick Polaris's

Reason being I can  add on heavier limbs as needed for around 40 bucks

Light limbs to start means good form

As far as a good youth bow there are three sponsors here that I'm aware of that build "custom crafted youthbows" that are very affordalble.

St. Joe River Bows
Maddog Archery
Montana bows

I believe one of these sponsors even has an upgrade program, which is really nice option if the little one grows and continues in archery.

I give the folks credit that offer youth bows and the price they do, as I've talked to bowyers who said they have just as much time building/finishing a youth bow as a full size bow.  Other than the few pennies saved on material, that is reality.
