Saw a recurve today that had a sticker with the above on it. It was made in in Alabama, and also had a sticker Mark I. Nice looker. Anyone know anything about who made those bows. This guy has a bunch of cedar arrows in boxes and old recurves (some Bear takedowns) because his Dad had connections with the old Bear factory in Gaylord Michigan and some of the old guys that hunted Bear equipment.

There was a fellow on LW looking for a Tice and Watts recurve last month. Bet he could give you some answers. Crazy Crawler is his handle.

Tice and Watts came and went very quicky due to the untimely death of one of the partners. Their claim to fame was that they were, as I remember it, the first bow to be computer designed. It was a very impressive bow for its time and would still be today. I had a dealership with them until they went under and I had a Spartan that I sold and it is probably to only bow I wish I had held on to. They were working on a metal riser when the business folded and I had one on orde for myself that I never got to see. If I could have forseen the sad and untimely end to such a nice bow I would not have sold the Spartan. If you have the opportunity to get a Spartan grab it and hold on to it. If it shootable you will have a great bow on your hands.

I have 2 of them now and the were very fast recurves in their day.  They out preformed Bears and Wings.  Not many around.  Like Bill said the first to try computer design in limbs...Doc

I had never heard of them. The top limb is twisted, not a lot,but enough so its easy to see. The writing on the side of the bow looks just like the writing on my Pearson Recurve.

wow.like I said I have no idea of what all these bows are.I know I have 2 of the mamba's also, my dad and friends were fanatics about bow hunting in the late 50's thru the 70's.I believe my Bear take down is one of the originals, I know for a fact it came out of Grayling, every year dad made the family go there so he could get his new one...I really appreciate you making me aware of this web site, I'll let my dad's friends know about this site and try to post more information on what bows and equipment we have. I'm sure they have interest in getting rid of some of this stuff since they are in their 70's and haven't pulled these bows in over 15-20 years

Thanks for that history Bill.  Those things were computer designed when computers were the size of football fields.  I can remember that there was quite a mystic about those bows.  It was one of the bows that I really wanted, but back then I was poor as dirt.

A Tice and Watts was my 1st trad bow about 4 years ago. I found it in a flea market for $20. I shot it and loved it. It was fast and quiet, then I noticed that it was fretting on the lower limb, so I put it up and bought more trad bows   :D    :D  . It collected dust until earlier this year. I decided to put it on eeebey as a wallhanger. I specifically stated that it was fretting and put up pictures of the frets. I think it sold for $66. Wish I could find another one.

I have pictures that I can e-mail to anyone interested, I'm not sure how to post them to Trad gang and there are three people that have already shown interest, the bow has no visual flaws, and since it's been strung over the past couple of days and drawn back the string is right down the middle of the limb pockets, I was told by another trad gang member there is no sign of limb twist...the data on the bow is 55lbs @28" and s 58" long
