I were to add antler tips to an old bow? I picked up an old Shakespeare that is in desperate need of refinishing. as a matter of fact, it looks like someone started and then thought better of it. While giving her a close look over, it looks like someone sanded down the wood tips to a flat profile. If I beefed them up with antler overlays, how would that affect the bows performance? right now it's a 54" that's marked #55. would I have to worry if I were to say... double the mass on the tips?

I don't know about how it will effect performance but I did that with my Hatfield when the tips started to crack and it worked fine.Problem is the edge's of the limbs are rounded so a decent size glue line show's.You'd probably do a better blend job then I did but I'm only usein the Hatfield for bowfishin these day's anyway....it ain't no beauty pagent LOL
Shoot straight and have FUN!!

Any weight ya add will slow the bow some, but only a few fps. as long as they are not honkin' big you should be fine. Shawn

Do it.  You won't notice any difference in performance.

If you do it right you can gain some by making the bow fast-flite able.

fast flite on a 40 year old bow. Now that would be interesting....  ;)

The glass will handle it. Some of the 40 year old bows had heavy enough tips to handle it when it came out anyways.

Hey Brent, put that big shed on the bottom limb. That way it will stand up on it's own   :biglaugh:
