First..you need a fresh dried thick cow leg bone with bulbed ends cut off.

Now slice off dense slab off leg bone.

Now trace out head shape on bone slab !

Cut out shape on bandsaw..be carefull to keep it flat

Now thin, shape till you get the shape you want.

To finish ..hand sand...belt sand or file to get sharp edge ! A little wood wax coat  and your ready to put on arrow!!!

One more thing ..be careful not to breath bone dust. It effects some people.

Good luck on you bone point!!!

In a few days I'll draw someone name that responds to this topic and send them this point to try..Happy Thanksgiving !! Jeff

Ooooh, if I might add;

If you've never worked with bone before, wear a dustmask & clothes you don't mind burning. The stink when you're cutting or sanding bone would gag a maggot. It permeates your clothes & hair like nothing else on earth!

Thanks for that. Do you think I use my deer leg bones from the buck I took this year?

.... anyone that has any other Idea's on making "bone Points"  please add...I'm learning too ! Also I don't think bone points are for everyone..for hunting! Special care must be taken before you let one fly!

Good looking point.  Correct on the smell.  I always cut antler outside with a fan blowing the dust away from me with a mask.  Usually that last project of the day so I go from the project to the shower.

Are you going to barb your hunting point or give it the Christmas tree look like flintknapping?
Good stuff Jeff
