I'm gluing feathers on some Axis full metal jacket arrows and need to know what kind of glue works best. I have cleaned and roughed up the crown area and then spray painted on a crown with good quality Krylon paint. I now want to put the feathers on. What kind of glue works best,..the old white tube fletch tite or the new silver tube or some other product??? Thanks in advance.

I don't thing the Bohning glues will work. I used to make custom arrows but never used Krylon  so I may be corrected on this. However, super glues have always worked on any finish I have used. I like the Loctite and Gorilla super glues as the tip and application is very easy and not at all messy.

I've dipped hundreds of Aluminum shafts and fletched with feathers. It didn't really matter what the crown paint was,I've always used Fletchtite and now the platinum and never had a problem. No matter what you use always wipe the base of the feather and the crown with Acetone to completely de-grease.Works exellent.Just my experience.

Thanks men. I have also used Fletchtite for years on carbons but have sometimes seen it seem to melt the paint and then not adhere to the carbon very well. How long to you let your feathers sit with fletchtite before removing the clamps?

At least 1/2 hour. The glues still alittle soft ,but thats ok.Thefeathers will come off the clamp real easy.Don't leave the feathers in the clamps overnite, the glue will harden to much and if some got on your clamp you'll have a heck of a time getting the arrow out of tyhe clamp, could tear the feather right off your arrow.

Like Frank said fletch tapes a whole lot easier and Wraps from Onestringer are sure better and easier than dipping and creasting.I'll never Dip again !LOL

I'll second the fletch tape.  That is all I use.

I've read that Duco works well on paints like Krylon. But I believe cleaning the base of the quill on the feather does alot to improve adherence.
