Hey all,

I have been looking for a longbow for a bit and I am just about ready to get one.  The one I have been looking at is the Samick Verna.  From what little comments I have seen about them, they seem to be a decent bow.  I got to see and hold one at ATAR and I thought it was pretty nice.  Before I get it I wanted to ask and see if there are any other $200 longbows that I should be checking out.  Right now that is my price limit.  Waiting on a used bow to come around in my draw weight might take a while.

If you have any other suggestions about other longbows I should check out, feel free to let me know.

Thanks for the help.

Check out the AIM Viper Deluxe longbow. I'm real pleased with mine after I changed out the factory string with a FF custom string.

I was eyeing up a PSE Sequoia, Cabela's sells them. I was thinking about posting a thread about them and seeing what kind of input I get about them. They run 229$

I would forget that bow, and take the $200 and buy a used bow off the classafieds

bmfer,
Shoot the Sequoia before you buy.  I shot it and a Bear Montana at Cabela's.  It was amazing what the extra $50 bought with the Montana.  Much smoother bow, did not stack, a lot less hand shock.

I just had a bow made by Don Dow (STIK bows). It has all of the features that I want in a good hunting longbow. Low shelf, cut to center, r/d, and VERY quiet. The base model with black glass and bubinga handle with accent stripe, in your specified draw eight is $199 plus $20 shipping.

He sells a few on ****. Do a search in "bows" for "STIK".

I have not shot the Verna but did draw one back and check it out at ATAR.It was the smoothest pulling bow I picked up there. It felt much better than most all the custom bows I pulled back.I have been thinking of ordering one and have kicked myself for not shooting it when I had the chance.

I really like my Sequoia. Absolutely zero hand shock or stack. That's with a B-50 string.
No matter what type of bow is shot, we're all archers.

Some people wouldn't know "stack" if you hit them in the forehead with it.  Any longbow over 64 inches is not going to stack in less you're pulling 33 or 34 inches.  You will also find people here who judge the foreign bows without even trying them.  Shoot one if you can.

I would look for aused one, I have seen some nice customs for $200 used and I would check out Stik bows as said above, for $200 for a bow like that is a good price. Shawn

I would like to second redfishs opinion of Don Dows Stik bows.He is a first rate man and bowyer.
