Hmmm, yes, and??????????  Got to have more details. It says so right here.  :readit:
The years accumulate on old friendships like tree rings, during which time a kind of unspoken care and loyalty accrue between men.

Here's the story:
I am fortunate enough to live on 5 rural acres that has a decent population of deer.  I've lived here for 5 seasons and have had lots of opertunities at deer but never connected.
Tonight I got into my stand at about 4:oo and clipped into my top rope, sat down and nocked an arrow.
Found my balaclava and slipped it on.  Got out my grunt tube and gave 3 short grunts with my hands making a sound chamber.  I slipped the call into my vest and started to hear a deer comming!
I finally saw him on a trail that would bring him 15 yards from my stand in the crotch of an acient basswood.  Perhaps he never heard the grunt, but he just wasn't worked up at all when he walked through slowly.  I had plenty of time to make the shot on the move.
At the shot he turned 180 back the direction he came from.  The shot was high, too high and back.  I thought "oh no!". I immediately got that sick feeling in my stomach.   The buck ran for 25 yards and slowed to walk, then stumbled.  He turned left and bounded once and then went down.  It was over soooo quickly.
On field dressing him I figured out what happened.  I hit the back tips of both lungs and severed the big artery that runs along the bottom of the spine. He bled out in a flash.

Not giant by any means, but I'm thrilled to be this luckey!  :)

"People say you can't go back, its like when you get to the edge of a cliff and you take one more step forward or you do a 180 degree turn and take one more step forward. Which way are you going? Which one is progress?" Doug Tompkins

The bow is a metal riser from a Jennings Black Lightning (Black Bear).
The limbs are Quinn Stallion #60 and pull about #55 at my 29.5 DL.
Arrow is a Big Jim's GT5575 Trad blem with a Zwickey Eskimo with steel insert freshly sharpened with a Razor-sharp edge making system.
