I am used to shooting d97 out of my zippers, but don't have to much experience with older bows. Any suggestions for getting the best performance (speed vs. quietness) out of a 1964 Bear Grizzly. any thoughts are appreciated.

I have gotten my old Super Grizzly pretty quiet with 14 strands of B55 two bundle flemish and yarn puff silencers.

Dacron B-50 or B-55 would be your safest bet.  A little slower than D97 perhaps, but some older bow tips won't take what is essentially the "no stretch" property of a 16 strand D97 string.

B-50 all the new no stretch materials can damage an older bow not designed to handle them.

I like a 12 strand B-55 and wool puffs.I have trued 14 st and 15 and 16 strand.I feel 12 strand is best for me overall.
