I am trying to check out pictures of camo dipped or do-it-yourself camo jobs on trad bows. If you have pics of your deer slayin' huntin' bows, please post them. I'm tryin' to get ideas for a camo job that I want to do on a recurve of mine. Thanks folks!

Abel....before I came to my senses, I camoed many a bow....mostly confound devices for others.

You can make a really nice design by spraying the bow completely with a light green or tan, etc.   Then hold a leaf over the light color and spray a darker over the leaf and it will let a nice pattern.   Use several types....I always like the looks of Arbor Vitae...little fingers so to speak.

I've never done it, but I've seen what Mr. Stout is talking about. You can make it look really sharp by doing different layers from light to dark. Not sure, but I don't see why you can't go dark to light if the paint is dry.

Start with your base paint. Lay some leaves/sticks etc. on top and spray again. You can do this several times with different colours. Comes out real nice.

Or like Mr. Stout just said, just put a leaf or whatever and spray it.

There was a film dipped (I believe) ACS-CX on here a day or two ago. It looked real sharp! Maybe it will show on this thread.

I will see if I find it and bring it to the top.

Cheers,
Donavan

Abel, the thread is called "Man-law Bow Pics".

I brought it to the top.

I just heavy wax my bows then camo spray over the wax.  Very easy to remove or add more spray cause the paint will scratch off easily.  I usually use 3 colors, here are a few Griffin longbows.  Doc

Charlie Lamb likes to defile his homemade bows with a can of spray paint. It's enough to make a grown man cry.    :(

I like to use a set of those camo limb skins, even though my bows aren't half as nice as his.

BUCKY

Here is a picture of my 2 spray painted Mahaska recurves.

I have camo'd several myself, with good results. I am just interested in seeing how yall's have turned out, to get ideas for my next one. There was one fella that had an ACS dipped in Predator Deception that looked great. I wonder if Tarjac will do the same job as VC Finishes?

Bucky, that is badd-ass! Twins.

This is my wife Laura and her camoed DAS. I wanted to put snake skins on her bow but it creeped her out so I simply used some flat spray paint. She loves it so it is staying that way. We want mama to be happy.

Two Arrows

Here is a Bighorn I recently sold on the classifieds. One picture has camo tape by Hunters Specialties, the other pictures that show the bow painted with the same company's removable paint. The paint comes off with no problem at all.

I have an old 54" Browning Cobra 1 that I would like to use to hunt Turkeys from a blind. Do you guys think a flat black paint job, or a flat camo paint job would be better? How should I go about painting it? Just rough it up with some steel wool, clean with alcohol, and paint?

I painted this one in mossy oak bottomland, using painters tape and an exacto knife.

I do what George does. Spray paint the bow green, black or brown and then use a leaf (I use maple leafs) and spray over the leaf with a different color. Quick and easy.

BUCKY

I thought I was the only one to paint my bow. It's funny but a few years ago the trad police killed me for doing this. Boy how things have changed. I think it's ok now because so many bowyers offer bows in camo wood.Any other pictures out there?

Shifting Shadow

Is it necessary to rough up the bow finish with 220 grit sand paper first?

One bow. One arrow. My ideal.
