for those who are in the know, when you hunt the moon phases i know some of you follow the moon chart according to a dial calender.  how long are they good for ? do you buy a new one every yr?ive also noticed that some days according to the dial, you hunt near the bedding areas, but not to close and other days you hunt the feeding areas and transtion areas. i know were the funnels are but have still yet to locate the bedding areas. im trying to learn to hunt better to optimize my time in the woods. last yr i got to hunt when i wanted now i get just 2 days a week. rv

I do know that the moon phases work, but I have never used them and have had no trouble killing deer. I think by using them you are only enhancing your chances, but good luck with the learning, it's a real nice interesting ride.

I've used the one in the Farmer's Almanac for years. I did buy the Moon Guide this year and it gives some area suggestions, but the time suggestions are the same as other guides.  I've found them to be accurate predictors of game movement, but there are other factors to consider, too. Especially when a front moves through.

You really can never go wrong hunting travel corridors. Finding the bedding areas is just a matter of putting feet to the ground. Around here, they'll hole up in the thickest stuff that's reasonably close to a food source. I don't go near it until the season's over, though. Mature bucks, especially, will vacate a bedding area very quickly if it's disturbed.

This time of year, though, hunt where the does are.
