Thanks everyone. He is truly an awesome deer and I was lucky enough to have a chance at taking him.  I wasn't sure if I should get him mounted but since he is such a big 6 and it was with the longbow, my wife has encouraged me to mount him and you know you can't argue with the boss! He's going to the taxidermist tomorrow!
I was hunting just a few miles down the road on some public land. They have been opening a lot of town and county properties around here to help reduce the deer population. You have to shoot to qualify for accuracy, call in and out every time you hunt, indicate  where you are hunting on a map with a numbered pin,  hunt from a tree stand and shoot a doe before a buck.. It seems like a lot to do, but really becomes routine and opens up thousands of acres to hunt.

That is awesome! Congratulations on a fine buck

I don't know how I missed this one! That is a beauty mister! I have hunted Westchester, NY There are some monsters out there. Glad to hear you took him with trad.
I will give thanks to the LORD because of his righteousness and will sing praise to the name of the LORD Most High.

The season gave him perfect mornings, hunter's moons and fields of freedom found only by walking them with a predator's stride.

Nice one!  We get a few without brow tines around here too.  Not usually that big though.

That is some six!  Did you by chance age him?  He's gotta be better than a two -1/2 year old.

Very nice deer in any case.   :clapper:

He'll be aged this week. I'd be shocked if he is not 4.5 or older. Leaning towards older. I shot a big 8 last week and he was 4.5 and this guy seems quite a bit older
