Got this spike yesterday at 22 paces quartering away. Before he came out I hadn't seen a deer in the last 5 hunts. He went about 50 yards, caught liver and  lung. The shot was further back then I wanted but it did the job this was the 5th of the year with the bow and tradepoints

Then I went out today and passed on a doe and spike at 15 yards then it was quiet for about 30 minutes when I heard the leaves crunching, Ii look up and see that's a deer. I grunted once nd he trotted into view at 50 yards and stopped, I hit the grunt call two times and he ran straight to me and stopped facing me at ten yards, after a few minutes he turned broadside. I drew and got half way to my anchor, and he stared straight at me. I hit my anchor and let it fly but he jumped the string I hit in front of the rear leg. I thought it was a terrible hit. He trotted 50 yards or so and got real wobbly and fell to his side right in plain view, couldn't believe it. i caught the femoral artery, got very lucky.

Congrats on a fine buck and great season so far!

Although not optimal from a planning perspective those femoral shots work awfully well and the gut job is very clean with no blood in the cavity.
