wide broadheads

The last 2 years, I've been shooting the Centaur Big Game broadheads with pretty good results. They fly well and leave a "pretty good" blood trail. It seems that there aren't a lot of different brands of wide, two-blades out there. Any idea why? Peace!

Sasquatch heads come to mind. Zipped one into a gobbler about 15 years ago and he didn't go but about 10 yards.

Abowyer whitetail.Most people take a middle of the road stance on a lot of equipment selection and broadheads are usually made in large production runs.I suspect the numbers aren't there or there would be more.It doesn't mean they aren't good.It's just when a vendor sinks a ton of money into a large production run,he wants to get his money back plus some profit,in a reasonable time.Buying trends will,for the most part,dictate what is available.

I was upset when Pearson quit making the Deadhead. For a time it was thought that anything with a bleeder blade was what made a good broadhead and the politics about two blade heads shifted the market for a time. The Ace Super Express is a big head that will pretty much do any job you ask of it for about $25 for 6 of them, and it is fairly easy to sharpen as well.

Magnus has 150gr 2 blade stingers available. With most broadheads going lighter and retractable (for the compound and crossbow crowd) it appears demand just isn't there for manufactures. Just walk through cabela's archery and see if you can find anything above 125gr.

I'm happy with the ACE 200 grain Express..

You don't see as many of the large cut BH's anymore because of the propensity of bow hunters toward lighter, faster and smaller... even among what is called Traditional archers.. just look at all the advice given even here on TradGang pointing to light arrow setups for deer hunting.. it's difficult to have a light weight arrow with a 200 grain BH...

I like my GK Silverflame XL's! They are 1.5" wide and leave way better blood trails than any 1 1/8" 2-blade I have ever used.

It would be nice if someone made a deadhead profile blade 1.5" wide to fit stinger and werewolf ferrals. Ver easy to just swap them out and shoot..........

I've always been fond of the big Magnus I's.
1 1/2" wide and cuts a big hole. I shoot them from 53 and 57# longbows.

I sure like my 2" Simmons TreeSharks , they fly great and put big holes in things. As for the why not I think with the trend in shooting light bows and light arrows the big heads dont do as well on game ( as already said above ) all I come up with.

I also have used the zephur sasquatch with great results nothing shot with them went far at all, i would still be shooting them if i wasnt concerned about thier construction
i do believe in a wide head i now shoot zwickey deltas

I'm lucky Dave....I still have 4 that I bought in 1996. I've heard about the construction issues on the new ones as well so I'm probably going to be looking into another wide head soon.

I was using the big Magnus tonight while I was after turkeys. I wish that it was about an inch or less wide right now. I got in a wrestling match with my arrow when I was ripping out of my quiver and the big head snagged a tall weed on the way to my bow. The arrow flipped out of my hand and on the way to the ground, the broadhead put a deep gash on the inside of my thumb somehow. If I was closer to town I would have gone in for stitches. I just sat and kept pressure on it for an hour. I passed up a shot on a deer, which ended up within ten feet of me while was leaning against a tree, because it started bleeding when I was getting ready for the shot. Those big wide heads are dangerous.
