anyne use these on their hunting arrows? I have been shooting brightly covered arrows and would like to tone them down a bit but still have that reference point of where my arrow impacts. These seem to be the ticket. Any experience with these? Also any pics out there of arrows with the feather/fur tracers on them? Would like to get a better look at these.

They are great.  I have used them for years.  You can use any color feathers for camo and have the tracer to follow the flight of the arrow..  $3.50 is a cheap investment.  Practice with them to see how much they can help your overall shooting skills.

$3.50 !!!!!!!  For about a buck and a half you can buy a bag of Maribou feathers at Jo-Ann Fabrics.  Just strip them and you'll have more tracers than you can possibly use.  Here are some of mine.

No they won't, i shot with a guy just today at a 3D shoot and his arrows were the hardest to pull out of the targets. They were quite visible in flight and were they hit.

So how do you attach them?

Smear a line of fast setting superglue behind your fletchings & just wrap the marabou feather around once. The Wife has them fitted to her arrows to make 'em more visible in the target. The marabou is so soft it just dissappears in flight & then flumps out again on impact. Real easy to spot!

Ya can buy them from Three Rivers, they have tape for attaching to the arrow and work great.

You can also use rabbit fur (no drag either), buy with adhesive on or, like said, use super glue/gel, flex-tite, dupont, whatever your choice, that is compatible with your arrow finish. Use in a band or cut a circle (about nickel to quarter size - depending on arrow size) and cut an X or cross in the center, slip over nock and adheare with glue.

I put mine on with two rings of fletch tape...

 

Shooting a black target with red barred and black fletchings would be a mystery without them.

And that was me that had the "hard to pull arrows".  They won't do a thing to performance.

I was thinking while i was making my post this AM that, since I use fletching tape for my feathers anyway - I should try it for the tracers - that it ought to work good. Guess it does, huh BobW? - LOL

Glad to do it. You also can buy Zonkers (pieces of rabit skin/fur for making fly streamers) cheap in fly fishing shops,if you have one near, or their material catalogs.

That's what folks keep telling me - lottsa times I just say, "You sure you wanta hit where I hit?"  

I buy rabbit zonkers, as Bernie suggested, from a local fly shop. For about$1.50 you get enough for 2 or 3 dozen arrows. They are already stripped into 1/4" wide strips so you cut to length, add glue(either contact cement or super glue) and wrap them on. You can buy rabbit zonkers in almost any color you can imagine.
  When shot the fur or feathers lay down flat against the shaft and PUFF out when the arrow hits so there is no wind resistance.   Pat
