Hello,

ive just finished bareshafting my new arrows and a 175 grain points make for perfect results.
So i need to get me some Broadheads to continue tuning and start practicing.

The final setup should be sufficent enough for hogs.

Bow:
Thunderchild 63#  my 30" draw; 18 strand FF string;

Arrow that bareshafts best:
GT Trad 7595; 31,25" long; 100 grain brass insert; 175 grain tip; 3x5" shield RW feathers;
(= 638 grain total; 10 gpp; 20% FOC)

Broadheads ive considered so far:

Simmons Treeshark
VRA Terminator
Old Eclipse 4 blade 145 grain with alumadapter
Old Eclipse 2blade single bevel with alumadapter
Tusker Concorde with Alumadapter

What im not sure about is 4 blade? 3blade? 2 blade? single or double bevel?

So the questions are:
Can you recommend any broadhead or at least point me into a direction?

Sorry for the long question and thanks for any info,
Axel

hello, all the choce you made looks ok for me with 63 pounds take the one you prefer ... if you plan a buff think about the best penetration issue

PS / i'm almost not able to handle the sharpening issue of the simons and i regreat it

I'm partial to double bevel, double edged single blades (Stos & Magnus), but you have enough power to use any blade number (IMHO).

Just to make your life more miserable I'll also suggest you consider the Stos 160 gr.  I REALLY like how easy they are to sharpen.  Also rugged as all get out.

I'd find one that you can reliably sharpen and go from there.   I'd look hard at the woodsman or VPA 3 blades.   3 blades are the easiest to sharpen and cut a heck of a hole.

I've been shooting the magnus stinger this summer and really like the way it flies and from all reports its performance on deer is also excellent and if sharpening is an issue you can always buy a set of factory sharp blades for 12-15 bucks so you can practice with the broad heads and then swap out the blades to new sharp ones while hunting.

With that power, the VPA OR a big old Snuffer, but all will work
62" Super D, 47#s @ 25-1/2"
58" TS Mag, 53#s @ 26"
56" Bighorn, 46#s @ 26.5"

cacciatore

Axel,they all work good with that poundage.  :thumbsup:

VPA unless you are thinking cape buffalo or the like than a narrow 2 blade single bevel.

With all that horsepower I'd shoot a "Big 3" from Big Jim.

I've found the VPA Terminators to be a great head. They fly really quietly and leave a substantial blood trail. The ferrule is definitely tougher than an aluminum adapter. They are my choice for my carbon shafts. On my woodies, I use Stos heads, mostly. I do have some Eclipse heads that are fantastic, too.

Simmons... Simmons.... Simmons...

Have you seen the whole a Simmons makes...

Or Muzzy Phantoms. Those are my two favorites.
