Had quite the adventure Sunday evening. Shot a giant spotted Boar at about 15 yards with my mid fifties Thunderchild and a 250 grain Tusker single bevel broadhead after a lengthy spot and stalk. Watched the the arrow bury to fletchings on a quartering away shot. I heard him crashing and flailing about 40 yards away and immediately went after him because the shot looked so good. B-I-G mistake! When I got to him he was standing quartering towards me at about 10 yards. I put another arrow deep in him, and he immediately charged. Apparently he did not take kindly to me poking him with sharp sticks. It was very thick in that old swamp bottom and was on me before I could get up one of the skinny trees. We had quite a dance for 10 or 15 seconds there! How I did not get cut badly, I'll never know. Luckily for me, 2 pretty good shots began to take their toll and he staggered off a few feet and collapsed. He had knocked me down and stepped on my calf, which is very sore, and I feel like I went bull riding. Otherwise I am unscathed. Don't know what he weighed because he broke my scale. He had what we call dog killer tusks, not super long, but razors. I have been hog hunting for many years and knew better than to follow up immediately. I have been after this hog for 2 years and got carried away in the moment. Had I waited a few minutes, he would have been dead when I found him.  I was so exausted and stirred up, when I finally got him back to the house and cleaned, I ate some raw mustard greens my wife had soaking in the kitchen and didn't know until she started laughing at me.  Pics are in this link, perhaps my friend Yellow Dog, or another generous member that is more learned about the process can post the 3 hog pics directly.  web page

great hog! congratulations and glad you didnt get injured any worse than you did.  Easy to get caught up in the adrenaline rush, that is why we do it!

I have hunted many types of game considered dangerous. The closest call I ever had was was a 300 lb hog. They can be quite dangerous. Glad you took enough steam out of him to not be seriously hurt. That is a trophy for sure. Congratulations.
