I have had this picture of the Schaefer Silvertip on my desktop for months.

It is my 'dream' bow if you will.

Sold on here a while ago for about $2,200 I think.

Anyhow, what is the wood combination of this bow?? One day (probably far in the future), I want to get one that is similar to it made.

Thanks

Looking past the ingrained swirl on the riser, you can see some red around the bottom of it, looks like Cocobolo. On the limbs it looks like the Red Elm stained Cocobolo they have on their site. But it's Koa? one pretty choice.

Wow that sure is easy on the eyes!

I have seen a lot of gorgeous bows that don't cost $2,300. That is a piece of beautiful work.

Thats a piece of art  :)
If Danny Rowan owns it, hopefully he will chime in and tell us about the kills this precious has made  :D

nice wood combo indeed! like the "carvig" on the  riser!! Realy like the chekered grip also!

Bladepeek

I think that wood is "American scroll Cocobolo". The scrolls in this piece have grown very evenly indeed

Boy would it ever suck to have such a beautiful bow, "And miss"   :bigsmyl:

The scrolls look like they are stenciled on to me. I remember seeing pics of this bow before .
God bless you all, Steve

That sure is a beautiful bow.  I would certainly be afraid to hunt with that one, but I am also quite certain it would make my fellow club members awfully envious during indoor league!

In the link supplied earlier in the thread it states hand carved scroll work in the description, That is probably the prettiest bow I have ever seen,  not for me but nevertheless the level of craftsmanship is amazing.

Danny Rowan

The riser is ebony with a cocobolo flare and the scroll work is hand carved. The limbs are koa and the tips are polished sheep horn.

It will be with me in Texas starting Nov 1 and I hope I can christian her properly.

Gene,

I am sure Steve did not mean anything derogitory in his post, he is a fine man of God and a true artist in his own right.

Beautiful bow.  It would be hard to take her hunting, but that's what they're built for.  Good luck on the maiden voyage.

recurve_shooter

It's a beauty.  But now you guys have gone and gotten me back to trolling around on the ST website....this little thread could end up costing me more money!

Old Chief

Like I stated before, that is the most beautiful bow I have ever seen.  I am glad you had it purchased before I saw it.  I don't know if I could have afforded it, but I would have tried.
