Longbow Jake

Im a horrible story teller so bear with me fellas I'll try and keep it short. Well for starters my season didnt start so great. Before I even got a chance to hunt My longbow broke on me which had me super bumed I almost cried its been over a year since I got it so could'nt get it replaced.

BUT I got lucky my buddy at the local bow shop just bought a Black Widow recurve and he wanted to get rid of it. So I bought it and shot it ALOT for the 3 days I've had it to get used to it. And I just happen to be out shooting when my uncle calls and asked if I can help him out real quik,

So I put my bow and my 1 arrow I had for the bow at the time in the truck    :scared:   thinking i might as well go down the road 10-15 min to my stand after helping him.

So There I am in the stand at around 4oclock windy as heck and starving thinking of takeing my stand down and heading home but forgot the key to my stand lock so might as well stay. Time goes by the wind finally comes to a hault at around 6:30 which makes me feel better as the woods come alive the squirrles and skeeters come out so I put my thermacell to the test and it passes Thank God.

Now my eyes are playing tricks on me and I see what I think is a deer around 80yds I'd guess staring at but its not one just my eyes messing with me      then I hear some leaves crunching and it sounds alot different than the playfull squirrles and now the brush in front of me is shakeing as a deer pushes its way through right to me and starts feeding around 12  yards in front of me.

I watch this BIG bodied spike buck for about 15 min and it knows somethings up but it cant pinpoint me. He finally gives me a shot I ease my poundiing heart for a sec and keep telling myself you got this pic a spot. I burn a hole  right behind his shoulder draw back and release. It was like the bow wasent even there I was so focused on where I need to hit.

The deer jumps away and forward and I see the arrow sticking out of the opposite side (right side) and he runs what sounds like 40 yards its so thick I can't see but anyway he stops running starts walking real slow. Now I second guess myself of course cause thats what I do. Sitting in my stand shakeing from excitment I text my mom and its so jumbled up its hilarious. and I sit there for 15 min and get out of the stand and head back to the truck to wait before I even look for blood or the arrow afraid of spooking it.

I get my Papaws 4wheeler and head back to my stand to look I go to where I Shot at him No blood no arrow I walk about 20 yards the way he ran and find half my arrow and blood now I'm pumped again go another 20 yards or so find the other half of my arrow now the blood cuts back toward the stand and I find my deer in 10 more yards YESSS I don't think I could ever forget that day  :bigsmyl:  . Thanks for reading guys so much for keeping it short huh.
