This little guy came in 15 yards, thought he was a doe ended up being about a 2 inch spike. He came in at around 630 and until that point I thought I wasn't going to see anything but him and two smaller does came out and he game me a perfect shot. Hit him right in the pocket and hit the opposite shoulder. He kicked and went 15 yrds, stood there for about 5 seconds till his legs got wobbly and he tipped over right in front of me. The does that was with him continued to eat until it was too dark to see. This was the third with my tradepoints, fourth of the year and the second one I sent straight through the heart.

What's the bow? And can you show a photo of your arrows with the trade points? Or direct me to a thread with that?

Congratulations on a fine achievement!

Archery isn't something I do, it's who I am!
The road to "Sherwood" makes for an awesome journey.

Giovanni, nice job on the harvests and trade points! A year you won't soon forget, I am sure of!
I noticed your points have a little marker camo on them. Made me think of how I've done trade points in the past as I didn't like the shiney look either.

This was my solution to the problem

New unsharpened saw blade trade points

Use some kinda heat source to get'm red hot

Drop in used motor oil

Grind a cutting edge

Oil blackened points with edge

Haft to shafts

Hope you don't mind me putting this in your thread? Thought you might be interested.
Not sure if this process hurts the temper of steel but you only need to make one cut so longevity of sharpness is not an issue. Might help to cool water quench the edge as you grind it.

Keep up the hard way of hunting, I am proud of you Sir!

Nice job young man. I'm using a Osage self bow and bamboo horn nocked arrows but have them tipped with Zwickeys. Am looking for some sharp stone points to try. Congrats again.

gio tundo

Oh I really like that idea to blacken them will have to try that. I want to make some stone points soon.
