Been teachung myself how to hunt now for going on 5 years. Things finally came together today for me. Couldn't have been a better day! Had my 11 year old son Justin in the stand for the first time with me. This deer comes out to the edge of our little cleaning and spooked and turned and ran. Just then Justin tells me dad there's a deer coming, "stand up". So I stand and wait. Sure enough the deer comes back and gives me a broadside shot at about 20 yards. Double lunged it. Ran about 60 yards. Shot it with my JD Berry Apollo and some 2016's with 150 gr Woodsmans.

Should add that this is my first deer ever and my first buck ever.  :bigsmyl:

In the beginner's mind there are many possibilities. In the expert's there are few...So the most difficult thing is always to keep your beginner's mind...This is also the real secret of the arts: always be a beginner.  Shunryu Suzuki

Security is mostly a superstition. It does not exist in nature, nor do the children of men as a whole experience it. Avoiding danger is no safer in the long run than outright exposure. Life is either a daring adventure, or nothing. TGMM ♥

Awesome pal!!! Im very happy for you and Justin. That is a memory youll both cherish  forever. Get that hide tanned hair off and you can each have a quiver made.
