i killed a nice little buck the other day with a 2b blade with bleader broad head. shot double lung. no blood. i did find the deer but with a dog. been thinking about tring the woodsman. i shoot 45# @ about 29". anyone else use the woodsmans with lighter pound bows?

I did not like the results on hogs using a 50# bow but I think they would work on deer.

I shoot them in the 160 grain off my 49# Cari-bow Slynx and have been happy with the penetration and bloodtrail on deer.

I shoot 47#@29".  Two seasons ago, I shot clear through 3 whitetails with a Woodsman on a 110g steel broadhead adapter (AD Trad Lite arrows). Excellent blood trails in each of these instances.

I have since gone to 250g VPA Terminators, but have a great deal of confidence in them on deer.

I think you would find the results to be good... if your shot placement is!    

I would go more towards a Grizzly or an Eskimo with no bleeder and more chance of punching through both sides which creates quite a blood trail.

BTW I shoot Woodsmans so absolutely nothing against them. However with my wifes setup at 45 lb it is Grizzlys all the way.

i should add that it was a complete pass trough.

Shot two whitetail does a few years back using a 48# MOAB and Woodsmans mounted on standard aluminum broadhead adapters. Vapor carbons with 50 gr. brass adapters and got two complete pass thrus. Great, short bloodtrails. Watched one fall within 35 yards and the other went about 75 yards.....rolling down into the deepest holler on the property! Get 'em razor sharp and choose your shot carefully and you should be fine. Mike

I use woodsmans with a 40# bow on whitetail and love them.  I had trouble with 2 blades not giving good blood.  Thought maybe it was sealing back up with fat.

Love their performance in flight and on deer out of 50# bows. However I like the VPA's much better. I got a hissing noise from the vents on the woodsmans.

I have taken several whitetail deer with 300 gr 3 blade VPA BH with 43-46# @ 26" All pass thru except one with broke the should bone going in, cut rib both side and lodged in the far shoulder.
IMO VPA 3 blade is the best 3 blade make.

Get them sharp and should not be a problem.  You have a 29" draw so way different than a short draw light bow.

the woodsman was created with lighter weight stick bows in mind.  i shot completely through a nice triple digit hog at about 17 yards with a 52# longbow.  it's the only broadhead i've been using ... though i've tried other broadheads, i always come back to good ol' gene & barry.  

alright sounds like the woodsmans is what i am looking for. i need 200 gr.  i can get the elite in 200 gr. but only have 3 bh. they are the non-vented(i like that). or i can get 125 or 150 glue on and use an adaptor. are the elites 2 time as good. they are twice the price?

There is something that is appealing to the extra hole for better blood trails.

i use the 125gr standard woodsmans on 125gr steel adapters and 100gr brass inserts into beman ics 500 carbons.  so yeah, for any synthetic shafting, tweaking for front end weight is too easy.  with woodies, i'll either glue them on directly or internally foot the wood front ends with between 50-70 grains of steel nail ... woodyweights are good to go, too!  i've got a bunch of elites but prefer truing up a set of woodsmans for lots less layout of buck$.

Your setup will be fine , put the BH in the right spot .
