Anyone have any results to share on the Penetrator in general and the 250 grainer in particular? I have use the 200 gr. Terminator with great success and am now using the same head in 250 gr. Having to drop down in bow weight and with the VPA hog hunt in a couple of months I was wondering if any of you had got a Penetrator bloody yet.

I picked up a half dozen of the 250 gr. Penetrators used. VERY solid head, flies great, but the profile is different from what I was expecting from the photo. Not knocking the head at all but having them in my hand and looking at the photos it isn't quite what I expected.

Mike,

I took a half dozen VPA 250's to africa in August and took Zebra, blue wildebeest and gemsbok with them.  The performed flawlessly.  They're penetration was as you would expect.  Complete and deadly.  Honestly I lost a couple trying to kill som e south african rocks (well maybe not so much trying as accidently center punching).  They sharpened easily.  My bow was a Saluki Damascus about 52 lbs at my draw shooting a 650 grain axis shaft.

AKCrazyhorse-thanks for the reply. I know all the VPA heads I have used/handled are very well made.

Hope to hear/see some more results. Thanks!!

Thats some great shooting!!!!  I'm lucky if I can get a tennis ball at reasonable ranges.   I don't think I could ever center punch something as small as a BB.

I think BB means Big Buck?

Big Ed

I have harvested a few Whitetails the the VPA's they performed flawlessly. Very easy to sharpen and will hold the edge pretty well.

We are talking about the 2 blade VPA's,right?

Mike Bolin

daveycrockett, I was specifically asking about the 2 blade Penetrator, but as I am already a fan of the 3 blade Terminator I enjoy reading about them too.

I hoped to be able to add to my own thread, but if I didn't know better I'd think that all of the local deer had taken Saturday off!

Thanks for the replies and good luck to all! Mike

I too like the 3 blade. Got these new 2-blade ones and itching to shoot something with them. Can't see a deer. Just seeing where they been. Hot and full moon killing daytime movement here in the pineywoods.

davey, same here! Had turkeys giving me fits in the morning and afternoon. I hate turkeys! Saturday I had birds come straight to me until they get within 30 yards, then they mill around just out of range for 20 minutes. I switch to another stand in the afternoon as they passed within 15 yards of it in the a.m. Nope! I set and watched them  feed under the stand that I was in that morning! Did I mention I hate turkeys?

I had Ron at KME sharpen my 300 grain 3-bladeVPA heads and they are are all hair popping sharp now!
A third blade means 50% more cutting edge and a really big hole when it hits.
VPA had nickeled 300grain fielpoints too.

Good luck hunting!
