Only allowed to shoot does this week in Pa. with a muzzleloader or Junior and Senior hunters can shoot a doe with a rifle, either way they are leaving the bucks alone for me. I'm Okay with that.

Wolley,

I admire your tenacity.

Where I hunt it is on the fringe of some huge game lands that gets pummled with the early MZ inlines and then the kids and oldsters with centerfire rifles.

I've had more than one close call w/ balls and bullets zinging thru the trees as they cut loose on a running deer. In lines shoot like regular rifles and the bullets carry well.

In these heavy hunted areas, the deer get pretty terrorized for that period.  If I go, but I try to stay as far from the game lands as I can.

I find the latter part of the season, even on surrounding land, the patterns and behavior has changed drastically after the orange army has gone thru bedding areas and stomped up the woods pretty good... most activity is after I leave at dark 30 and come back in dead dark 30 AM.

TJ, to your point, I actually went Sat. morning and was a little late getting in and could hear some deer moving as I was within 40yds from my stand, I spooked them. About an hour later...Kaboom! I know it can happen, but now I am wondering just which deer was shot. We have some pic's of some very nice deer. "To go or not to go, that is the question?"  I guess I will continue to go, and hope they are pushed my way.

We, bowhunters, get an early start over the gun hunters here in Alabama, but when gun season is in, it lasts till deer season is over.  So, I definitely will go hunting.

whatever you do make sure you have your orange on.  i got a 110$ fine for not haveing it on coming out of my stand. the officer aksed if you knew i had to have it on during gun season?... "i only bow hunt, i didn't know it was gun season..." that wasn't good enough!  i go into my stand in the DARK and come out in the DARK.... i guess they have night vision now

Exactly Mark, it's a very sinking feeling. I know we don't own these deer but I really hate doing that for some reason. I suppose I am being selfish. We need the leadslingers to keep the numbers down as bowhunters can't shoot enough deer to keep everything in check. I have had bullets zip over my head and have fought trespassers every year since '83 and I just simply don't enjoy being out there then. I sat at home and did enjoy my family so I think I have answered my own question for the remainder of this year and the ones to come.
