Like the Coelacanth, what was once lost is now rediscovered.  A little known(for now) bowyer out of New Mexico named Jess Stuart is making a beautiful Rocky Mountain recurve knock-off with his own touch and they are beautiful.  I have kicked myself for years regreting not having one built back when they were still available - like 20 years!  Well I recently began seeking a used one by asking on this and other trad sites.  Jess contact me and told me of his obsession with the RMR and explained that he had taken it to the next level by making his own.  One thing led to another and it was not long before I ordered a bow from him.  The bow arrived today and other than it being a little heavy(he is going to help me with that) I could not be more pleased with this bow.  It is 56" and currently about 60@25(I have a short draw)  He is going to make it closer to 55lbs and I will probably have a second set of lighter limbs made while he has it because the riser fits my hand like a glove.  I cannot say enough about this bow or Jess Stuart.  Heck, look at the shipping crate he builds to ship them in... Bomb Proof!  I needed my screw gun to get it open.

I used to have one exactly like that. Got it in the mid 80's. Shot my first mule deer with it, but I sold it like all my other great bows of my youth. They just kept getting heavier by the year. Was a great shooting bow though. Mine was even left handed, glad someone is bringing back the design, one of my favorites.  Let us know how it shoots.  RW

My grandmother passed Thursday night so I have obviously had little time to play with this bow or add any additional photos but I cannot say enough about how great Jess is to work with.
