Summit Openshot is nice and goes for $200-$230. You can find them on tons of websites.

"Loc-On, (the brand) been using them forever.. I don't hike in any more and pretty much hunt my own property but if you want a solid, light and quick stand to use with "sticks" or bolts the Loc-On's are the ones.  

I will not pay the price for a LW.

Everyone i know uses a Summit..They all love them.. if i am packing in a ways i am using my gillie suit and tree seat on the ground...if i find the right tree..then i make a plan on how to best use it..maybe a cheap climber i can pack in once and lock at bottom of tree, for the season.. maybe hide it with brush.. just food for thought...

tree saddle

I use a muddy stand and sticks, they are awesome! I carry it in and take it down usually the same sit. Very easy to use and the whole setup is only about 23lbs

Tree saddle + cedar tree = perfect tree stand in about 5 minutes.   ( lots of nice cedars where I hunt)

I use a small Gorilla Silverback HX with 3 Lone Wolf minis sticks. About 15 lbs total. Up the tree and hunting within 10 mins. I also have a Lone Wolf Alpha hand climber, but I like the versitility of the lock-on.

LW climber but for a fixed stand the Chippewa Wedge-Loc is tough to beat! Very light and easily the quietest stand out there. With a set of lightweight climbing sticks and a few home-made brackets you can be up the tree and hunting within a minute of using a LW climber. Shawn

My vote goes to the Lone Wolf.  I need to use the sit & climb model, but if I could, I'd use the hand climber - it's even lighter.

My vote goes for the Loc On Limit. Here's a pic of my setup, stand, sticks, safety gear, 1/2 dozen rope on's and every thing else you need to spend 12 hours straight in a tree. Just threw it on the scale and it comes in at 20.9 pounds. With this setup I can silently get 25' up any tree in under 10 minutes. Not a fan of climbers, your limited by what trees you can get into, with this setup I can get up just about any tree.

 

That's the only bad thing with the hang-on and sticks you fig in the weight of everything and you around 20lbs. the lone wolf hand climbers is a lighter setup.

LW with sticks for the past 15 years.  Put on pack straps AND a pack belt and you hardly notice you have it. Sticks are mounted to foam blocks.  Totally quiet. 10 min up.  Another option though is the tree saddle.  I do not have a chippewa but they are equally impressive.

I have had 2 of the Loc-Ons for years. My favorite stand. Couple one of them with rapid rails and its good for any tree. Climbers limit you too much to a straight tree without limbs. I actually prefer the ugly trees with limbs and crooked trunks. They seem to provide a lot of cover.

At 51 years old I still carry a stand and sticks on my back all day!  Just put on back pack straps and backpack hip belt. I also use a walking stick.  I carry/scout all season for hours a day- rarely hunt the same tree twice. 15-20# on my hips is nothing.

Lone Wolf Hand climber. It's well worth the money. I use a strap attached to the seat to make it a sit and climb. Works great and I think now they offer for it as an option. I got mine 2nd hand on E*** for around $250 it was used one time. I used my last climber for 18 years. While it may be a lot of money upfront it isn't a lot when you look at it over a period of time.

It is not the most comfortable stand out there, but for me the 4-5 pound weight difference between the LW and most other stands, ease of packing and stability outweigh any negatives including the price.  I own 3 Gorilla hang on stands and a set of sticks but I never use them. I can set up my climber with less noise and effort and faster.

Tree saddle. It's about the only thing I use.
