I've been shooting trad for 6-7 years.Starting out I was a snap shooter, couldn't hold anchor to save my life.Shot pretty well at times, even killed a 140 class buck. Then I decided I needed more control to be more consistant so I worked on being able to come to a solid anchor with a slight pause before release.I was able to accomplish this and I shoot pretty well now.

My natural shot is to draw, anchor and release in a second or so.My problem is I shoot 4-5" high,I really have to slow down and force myself to shoot lower.I've been waiting for years for my brain to make an adjustment but apparently it's not going to happen.I guess I really need to force myself to change my sight picture until it becomes more "natural".Easier said than done.

I'm just venting here but I would like to hear what others with this problem have done.I am shooting instinctive by the way.

Thanks,Ken

If it's really been 4-5 years and your brain hasn't adapted, have you tried shooting heavier arrows that will bring the impact down?

I have the same problem sometimes. When I try to hold at full draw I sometimes shoot high but not always. Frustrating as all get out!! Trying to improve and it backfires on you!  :banghead:    :dunno:

My arrows weight 575 on average and I shoot 53#'s.Im'shooting GT 35/55 with 100 gr. insert and a 175 gr.head.What would be the best way to add weight?

Are you shooting split finger; one over, two under?

With me, anchoring with my middle finger in the corner of your mouth tends to impact my arrow higher at 20 yards. But, if I anchor with my index finger in the corner of my mouth, I impact lower at 20 yards by at least 4".

Just food for thought.

How longs your draw? those arrows seem under spined for all the weight you have up front. this could be some of your problem

I shoot 3 under with thumb knuckle to ear lobe and index finger in the corner of my mouth,or there abouts.I draw a little over 27" and my arrows are 29" and fly like darts.I can't tell you how many arrows I've broken on my Gledale target from hitting the piece of metal in the lid. Thanks for your replies,Ken
