Thank you my brothers!  I took the deer in Lehigh County 5C.

Got a late start tonight.  Wanted to spend some time with my lady after work before heading out today.  Got home from work then went out to pick up some pizzas for her kids.  Drove twenty minutes to the farm I was hunting and was settled in the tree by 5:30.

6:15 I turn around and see a buck sneaking through a shooting lane.  It was to late as that fellow was through the lane before I was able to grab my bow.  It looked similar to the buck I killed...not sure if it is the same one or a different buck.  I was happy just to have seen a deer.

About 6:45 I hear a sound and look up to see deer acting a bit funny as if getting chased by a big buck.  I see a spike and some yearlings then the big buck I later shot.  Thanks be to Jesus the pack starts making their way to my ladder stand.  First a non typical buck comes through at 12 yards.  Where I hunt it must have three to a side to shoot.  It's rack had me confused so I let it pass.  Next, two yearlings come through at about 10 yards and have no idea that I am there.  I decide that I am going to wait for the big buck I saw earlier.  Finally, a spike goes through and then all is quiet for about five minutes.

I hear the faint steps of the larger buck that I shot coming along the same thick path as the otehr bucks.  This means it would pass about 12 to 15 yards.  Then it happens, it pops out and as it goes through a small lane I draw back the Foley bow and focus low on it's shoulder (missed a doe at this same spot at 5 yards a week earlier having shot over her).

The arrow is silently off flying through the air and it strikes the buck through the shoulder and the arrow gets stopped by the shoulder on the opposing side.  I see about half the arrow sticking out of the deer but I know it is a fatal hit.  I search in the dark for blood and then the deer but I know with only one hole the cavity will fill and blood will be sparse.  I search until my lights die and then head home for the lanterns.

As I have back problems I call my brother in law to assist in the recovery.  He can't make it.  Next I call my 68 year young father who willingly agrees to bring his lantern too and join in the search under a near full moon on a 50 degree dewey Pennsylvania early October night.  We search and I find the deer about 75 yards from where I shot it.  It ran towards the car :-) and into the soybean field.  In fact, I probably walked within 10 yards of it on the way out the first time and never noticed it.  We take some pictures, I clean the critter, we load it up on the deer cart and the rest is history.  Thanks for reading my story.

Well, I don't see the pic because you need to re-size it, but great story. We'll have to work out some shooting together one of these days.
I will give thanks to the LORD because of his righteousness and will sing praise to the name of the LORD Most High.

Congratulation brother. Please resize your pic so we can enjoy it with you.
