99%of the  guys I know at my local range and other ranges wouldn`t dare hunt deer with a trad bow. They say you won`t be able to shoot a buck with one, maybe does they say. I want to know who has shot bucks here,,pics would be great so I can prove these guys wrong.

You have nothing to prove! Have them look in the history books and look at the pictures of the Indians harvesting 2000lb buffalo hundreds of years ago! Why prove something that's so ridiculous? Show him the thread of the "12 year old boy that just harvested one with his longbow"... It's still on page 1

Ive shot more than a few Bucks with trad gear.... Most ppl stay away from it bc they are more worried about putting a big deer down than enjoying the moment. Its true, with a compound you can tag a deer at 50yds with pracrice... Ive done it....

I love trad bc it is much more challenging which is so much fun to me. It takes some ppl time to step away from the "Gotta shoot a deer" mentality....

You go out and have fun with your trad gear....Dont worry bout them...

I agree that is a stupid statement by your buds!! Just have them buy a few DVDs of traditional bow hunts for deer. Tons of monsters shot by Trad gear. Del Austins buck which was the #1 non-typical for over 40 years was taken with a recurve and what do these guys think they used to kill deer before 1969, there were no compounds. Have them read this thread so they know what the rest of us think of their shear stupidity! Shawn

They say a buck is way too wary. They say it`s hard enough to hit a buck on high alert with a compound,,forget about a Trad bow.

Swinestalker

Tell them it is better to remain silent and let people wonder if they are fools, than to speak and remove all doubt.
Having done so much, with so little, for so long, I can now do anything with nothing.

Big Ed

I won't shoot a deer on high alert with anything!!!

In my opinion......please it's just my opinion. There is a mindset at "Ranges" that kinda gets crazy. You'll hear some crazy theories and because they attend there alot and live and breathe the sport of shooting a bow they come up with junk like those who were talking to you. The best thing for my own piece of mind at my range is to just go shoot and try to get better not engage in other peoples opinions about what to use to be successful. Some quotes from my range I've heard toward myself and others shooting..."How does your Wifes bow shoot" If a man is shooting a recurve under 70lbs draw. Which I'll add most of em ain't getting to full draw "Might as well shoot em with a field point" When someone shows up with broadheads under 1 9/16 cutting diameter. They absolutely love the 2" cut Simmons and believe it is inhumane and unethical to use less. My suggestion is go about your hunt and quit worrying what everybody else thinks. You know it is done many times a day all over this country.

I'd have them google Gene and Barry Wensel for starters.
I would venture to say that the good folks here on this site have accounted for several thousand! LOL!

I believe the highest scoring Boone and Crockett typical Whitetail ever taken with archery euipment (over 205 B.C. points) was taken with a Howatt Hunter recurve by a a hunter named I believe, Del Johnson.

Im willing to go out on a limb and say HALF of the members have killed a buck with trad gear maybe more, the numbers go up every year not down. Its so easy, a caveman can do it !!  :bigsmyl:

If they dont think you can kill a buck then what would they think of all the bull elk and moose these guys shoot with there sticks.

I'm sorry but the weariest animal I have ever hunted is an ol' doe we named Grandma on our place. She has twins every year and will spot anyone and anything within 40 yards of her EVERY time. I have yet to be in the woods without her walking by and laughing at me.

Most bucks are a breeze compared to this seasoned mother of 8.

I came from nothing and I brought it with me.

i think with the trad crowd its more about being a better hunter and not about the latest
wizbang gadget to kill that buck
