Nice mourning for the New York opener, a bit windy but not to bad where I was. Saw a few squirrels, lots of geese flying. No deer today, sat for 3 hours........

A beautiful fall morning; clear, not much wind, 35 degrees. Saw about 15 does, one little 4x4 whitetail, maybe 20 turkeys. One doe on the ground, and I'm saving my next turkey for later in the season. Now it is the search for a couple of nice bucks that I know are in the area. Woo Hoo!

Didn't see anything this morning. First hunt not to see deer in the 7 mornings I've hunted. Will try again in the morning.

Day light to 11:00am, windy - 60's - bad head cold = no deer!

Found a Buck killin stand and three general deer killin stands today.

Cold front coming on Wednesday. Y'all might see Woods' next deer this weekend!!    :saywhat:      :saywhat:

just got back from a 4 day hunt in Bedford Pa.  a friend and myself battled the rain, but didnt see a tail!!!!  Even though we didnt have any luck, hunting with a friend is always a great time.  the quest will continue.  We hunted on 27,826 acres of state game lands, which I am not used to.

Had a tree frog jump on my arrow and craul up and perch on the broadhead, like he was hopeing for a ride. Shooed him away with a weed, later he jumped on you headdress (gillie suit) I gave him a fling, the higlight of my hunt.

This Morning, I seen four does, and two fork horn bucks.  Missed one coyote.  Went to leave and came upon another rise, and I seen movement, it was a two year old buck with straight tines, I decided to try and stalk him, then decided that if I get within 15 yards, I would harvest him.  I was about two steps away when he took off on his own walking away.  I know some say I should of shot him, but hey was fun anyway.

I watched a buck with one antler that was palmated, the other normal, from about 50 yards for over 10 minutes this morning. I didn't have any desire to shoot him, but just wanted to watch. He stood perfectly still for the whole time except for slow and slight head turns as he watched an open area. He then faded into some heavy brush.
The gut pile from yesterday's doe was already gone, although I have never seen a coyote on the place I am hunting. The magpies must have had a feast!
I also saw 4 more bucks (all small) and around 15 does, along with the same flock of turkeys that I have been watching since September. A nice morning, around 40 degrees, light wind, and overcast.

I might as well be hunting on the moon! Seeing nothing last 3 trips out. I see plenty driving home. They are all eating in people's yards.

Had a squirrel get chased by a chipmunk. He stopped at about arms reach and stood on 2 feet while he was breathing really hard. I never thought of a squirrel being out of breathe before.

It was cool, he just sat there while he caught his breathe before ambling on.

Lots of squirrels and chipmonks, but 0 deer. Full moon = bad hunting I guess.

Cool thread. I enjoy hearing what you guys and gals see in your part of the country.

I can't even keep track of all the game I have seen since our season for pronghorns opened Aug 15th.

I will just start with today. Right at light I spotted 2 bull elk while I was hunting deer. I do have an elk tag for this area and went after the bulls. They won as I lost them.

I saw a few hundred pronghorns today, (my tags are already filled), about twenty doe mule deer, and two 4x4 mulie bucks. I could not try a stalk on the bucks because I am hunting some private, and the landowner only wants cull bucks shot. No 3x4's or 2x3's spotted today for a stalk.

Also saw a raccoon, and called a pair of coyotes, but they circled downwind and caught my scent way out of range, 200 yards or so. Them buggers can sure smell. What a test for those gimmick scent suits and spray.

Saw lots of chipmunks also, and a few sage grouse.

Yesterday I just saw a few does, and introduced a jackrabbit to a 160 VPA glued to a Douglas Fir shaft. (to graphic for pics)
