If given only one option, do you prefer to hunt the morning or evening?

I like the morning hunts. Without the worry of darkness, the blood trail is easy to follow in the daylight of morning.

I agree with Night Wing for the reasons he stated.  That said, I find I see more deer on afternoon/evening hunts.

Morning greatly preferred.  (But life intervenes, so 75% of my outings are evenings.)

I answered evening, but on a different day I might have said mornings.  They both are good, and I don't really have a preference.  Over the years though I would say that evenings have been slightly more productive for me.

I like tracking in the AM, but I get more shots in the evening.  Plus in the evening I can get into spots without being seen by active deer.  I can also see what the deer are doing and where they are better as light fades so have a chance to take a route out that will disturb fewer deer.  Then there  is the whole sleeping in thing.   :D

Now in the pre-rut and rut morning is king, and I see most of my deer late morning.  I have been known to sleep in a bit and head out after the sun is up and when I think the does are bedded.

I voted morning.  If you would have asked me on Friday, I would have said evening, but after the weekend I had this past one, I am now a morning guy.

That being said, I am an opportunistic hunter.  I go when I have the chance and more times than not it is in the evening due to family and job priorities..

I probably have shot more at night but just cannot find anything I enjoy more than the sunrise from a tree stand.

I like Mornings but also like sleeping in.

I have had hundreds of oppotunituies in both morning and evening. (I wish I wasnt into Horn Porn back then   :banghead:   )

I prefer Mornings. I Really Like evenings. If I had to pick One, it would be AM.

The thing I like about evening sits, is you know without a doubt when you should leave.  In the Morning I always sit and second guess myself for about 2 hours and then finally talk myself into leaving between 10 and 10:30, unless its the Rut, I will sit all day if i can.

I've killed more deer in the morning, so I guess that is what I prefer. I like both. Time in the woods is great no matter when it happens.

Definately evenings for me.
For one thing, there's the giant magnet that stops me from getting out of bed until it's light enough to see & for another in the evening, your expectations & chances improve the longer you stay in stand. In the morning, the longer you stay, the more frustrated & fidgety you get.

I love the mornings. I like to catch a deer going back to his bed tired after a long night in the fields. His guard is down you might say. They seem to be more alert when they have layed all day and are fresh. Not to mention I can stay as long as I want in the mroning. Evenings get cut short because of something called darkness.   :bigsmyl:

I put evenings as I am not a morning person, I have killed more bucks in the morning though. I have killed more deer in the morning as well, probably 75-80 and 30-40 in the evenings. The others were between 10am and 2pm. I just love that last 15 minutes of light, just feels like something is gonna happen. Shawn

I have to go with evenings, I hunt really small patches around home and it seems like I am always pushing deer out of the fields in the am. Wish I had several ways in and out but that just isn't an option where I hunt

Here I am screwing up my own poll....If i had to choose, it would be evenings. I kill more deer in the evening. But I see more mature bucks in the morning.

I like the AM...I hate getting up but what'cha gonna do. I hunt in the evening but I hate the thought of leaving a deer over night if I have to. Coyotes around here just clean them up to fast!! In the AM I have all day to track and recover!

I put morning, not that I am a morning person.

If I do connect with a deer I have the rest of the day to deal with em.

Nothing like watching a sunrise from a treestand or groundblind.

To many times in the eve I have had to get out of my stand in the pitch dark because I had a nice buck lingering just out of range and didnt want to get out of my stand to give away my location.

I have had equal success with both morning and eve hunts.
