We (my girlfriend, Jillian and I) headed north this weekend for opening day.

We left late friday night but we made it safe and sound.  Jillian wasn't going to hunt and I wasn't out for anything serious just wanted to be out in the woods with my bow.

Saturday morning arrived, and while i was watching the sky above me looking for some geese, what appeared to be a four point began to wander in.   The wind was swirling and i got busted pretty quick. Back to the cabin for a nap...

The real excitement came early saturday afternoon.  My dad suggested maybe setting up in the oak trees in the evening, but i didn't know what the area looked like.  Jillian and I picked up our bows (she's new to trad) and headed out to scout the area a bit.

But first some practice

To my surprise the squirrels were everywhere and extremely close.  We couldn't help ourselves.  Arrows started flying and the squirrels... well they were pretty safe from us but what a blast.  After missing quite a bit we decided to go reload the quiver, and take a break.

We hit the woods again, and I finally connected on a squirrel, with my new longwalker.  This was my first trad squirrel, and Jillian's first trad hunt ever.  I even offered her the use of the .22 but she said the bow was more fun.

Love to see that bridge - pathway to heaven for sure.  BTW - A few years back I had the opportunity to get on top of the north tower.  Really cool view from up there and although the distance from the top to the deck and deck to the water is just about the same(250' each) from up there it looks like the water is barely getting under the bridge.

Good times out a hunting are great, especially with such cute company. Enjoy the good times Sean.

Thank you everyone!

Dad-
Jillian asked what the lowest weight bow one could use to cleanly kill a deer.  I think she could easily go up to 40# but She isn't really sure.  She tried the long walker and said it was to heavy.  I think if chuck made her one and just marked it at 20# she'd shoot it fine.
