I just purchased a used Dwyer Dauantless R/D longbow, 57#@28", I pull 27 1/2" so probably about 55#'s at my dl.

I am wondering what carbon shaft would tune best, I would probably use 100 grain inserts to get the wait up and would like to shoot a finished arrow of about 550 grains, give or take.

I like Carbon Express Heritage shafts but would consider others. The CE 150's spine at .487 and the 250's spine at .373.

I shoot 125 grain broadheads and would like to stay with that weight.

Thanks for  your help.

either the CE 150's or goldtip 3555's would work well on your bow, 30 inch or maybe 30 1/2 lenght of arrow... the CE will weigh more the 250's or 5575's are way to stiff.

Check out my specs in my signature below. I think you will find what you are looking for. I am also using 100 grain inserts. If you go slightly on the weak side, you can always build out your strike/side plate and find that they will usually tune right up. That is if your bow is cut to center or slightly past.

I would most definitely start with a CE 150 or any .500 spine shaft. CE 250's or .400 spine shafts you will never get them to shoot 125 grain heads - they will be too stiff.

My longbow is 54# and I shoot CE 150's @ 29", 100gr insert and 150 gr. broadhead.

My recurve is 62# and shoots CE 250's @ 30", and the same 250 gr. up front......

I'd be willing to bet the 150's would be your best choice, kept a bit longer and added weight.
