Thinking about getting a set of bibs and a coat in wolfskin with limaloft insulation or maybe the wool with windblock. Was wondering if anyone out their had it. Whats your thoughts and conditions you usually hunt in? Big purchase so just trying to do some homework, Thanks!

Don't own a pair myself. But if I had to guess, I'd say that the responses you will receive here will likely be very positive. Grey Wolf wmakes great products.

I have both Gray Wolf wool and wolfskin.  Great stuff either way.  As much as I like the wool, I do like the ability to easily wash the wolfskin.  Add the liteloft insulation with the wind stopper layer and you will have one of the warmest set ups you could get.

whip, do you have any experience with the "new" wolfskin?  I received some fabric samples old and new and the new stuff is far different.

I've seen the new stuff,  but haven't used it myself.  It is a different fabric, and appears to be very tough.

Hey Bud.  I'm a huge fan.  I've been wearing their stuff since before they changed the name and ownership. I have an unlined coat that I bought before they changed their name and it looks the same as it did the day I bought it, and I wear it nearly every time I hunt!
Here is my advice.  Skip the wolfskin, unless you intend to wear it in warm temperatures.  It's great stuff...don't get me wrong...but it won't keep you warm as well as the wool.  As far as the bibs go, I would also skip the windblock.  I have a pair with the windblock, and while they are very warm, having the windblock on the inside of the garment does not make much sense in my opinion.  It should be on the outside.
Rather than getting the windblock, get yourself a pair of smartwool/woolpower pants and shirt to go underneath the bibs and coat. Layering wool works the best.  It will keep you warm, and the layers will block the wind. Trust me, this will keep you warmer than you could imagine.
In really cold weather, I wear the smartwool/woolpower top and bottom...both the lightweight next to my skin, and then the heavier one over that.  Next I put on the unlined bibs, and an unlined coat.  Top it off with a stocking cap and some good boots, and I am good for the long haul!
Just another side note...DO NOT mix wool and cotton.  What I mean is don't put on anything made from cotton underneath the wool.  Cotton and wool do 2 different things.  Cotton is designed to hold moisture.  They two fabrics fight each other, and you will not stay warm.  Go with wool long underwear, socks, etc.  You will love this stuff!

moose eye levi,

I don't live that far south of you and both my wife and I own a set each of the bibs and jacket in wolfskin with the windbreak and liteloft insulation. We have had them for about 8 years now and I couldn't possibly be any happier with a purchase. Perhaps sometime, before you spend that kind of money we could get together and you could check them out in person.

We also have the hat and the mittens that they sell........again, we are very happy with ALL of their products. Let me know, and we'll arrange a meeting somewhere between where you are and where I am.

I have several wool items and they are great . I also have a set of wolfskin that I havent been that happy with , it seems to me that the wolfskin tears much too easy
