Look closely at this grip, can you guess what this is?

Hint, it feels like deer antler in velvet. It is not a fabric or fleece. No seams but applied directly and continuously to the handle.

Blackhawk7204

Sorry, I think the photos are back now.

Buzz-cut mouse skin? If you take off it's head, butt & feet, you'd be left with a nice tube to roll on....

That's a good guess but no.   :biglaugh:
It's not any type of skin or hide or fabric.

This is flock. Can be applied to any sealed surface. Wood, metal, plastic, etc.

GRINCH

How does it wear,is it durable.

I took a gander at your flocked up bow...cool!

Let us know how it holds up to use, unless this is something you've done before and already know the answer.

Archery isn't something I do, it's who I am!
The road to "Sherwood" makes for an awesome journey.

We are testing for durability now, looks good so far.

Good Stuff

Great Idea!Fishing rod builders have been using this for some time now for rod handles. I never thought of using it for a bow gip.

Blackhawk7204

I never felt a grip like this before, feels very soft and warm but is also very thin!

Bill Carlsen

I have two old Groves metal risers that are flocked. After a while they need a re-do.
The best things in life....aren't things!

Blackhawk7204

I don't know what the old flock was made out of but this is made from modern synthetic fibers that are colorfast, waterproof and should be quite durable.
I'm going to put it on some tool handles that see a lot of heavy use to see how it holds up.

Bobby Urban

Call me ignorant but how is it applied?  I am guessing it is sprayed on but I have Flocking idea wha Flock is.  Looks nice - I am intrigued

Blackhawk7204

Flock is made of individual fibers glued onto what ever you want covered. It looks like velvet but it has no fabric underneath. The fibers are arranged parallel with each other like the bristles in a brush.
