people using diamond hones.....are you keeping them dry or using  water to lube the cuttin'?   I usually use a little bit of h2o but have also tried it on the dry side and both seem to work decent.  Just wanted to get some feedback from others - lets hear it:  :wavey

I use a Jewel Stick and us honing oil.  Recommended by the guy I bought the Jewel stick from.  Works fine to keep the stick clean.

Use mine dry but do clean it with soap and water regularly.

They can be used wet or dry but you'll get the best results and longest life from the diamond hones if you use water with a little bit of dish liquid mixed in. I typically put about 5 drops of liquid dish soap in a 1 oz. bottle. You want just enough soap to lightly tint the color of the water. Always use very light pressure with diamonds too.

A little tip for those who want to use honing oil on their stones (or diamond plates for that matter). Kerosene works great - keeps the metal dust from clogging things up and is thin enough that the edge doesn't just slide over the grit, but stinks something awful. Buy a bottle of lamp oil. Pretty cheap and smells good too

H20 for me. works well

I use water on my diamonds. You can also use mineral oil from the drug store. Either way seems, to me, to work better than dry.
